Who Is A Good Candidate For Invisalign Treatment?

What Are The Expected Outcomes Of Invisalign Treatment?

The outcomes of Invisalign treatment can be analyzed in three main categories: health-related, aesthetical, and psychological. Each malocclusion type comes with a variety of complications, uneven bite and proneness to teeth decay are the most common health problems. After invisalign treatment the malocclusion will be corrected and it will give you a normal bite. Misaligned teeth often look unpleasant and less aesthetically pleasing. After your Invisalign treatment you will have perfectly aligned teeth which will give you more confidence in your daily life and you’ll smile more often! Malocclusion can cause loss of self-esteem and can affect your daily life. You may smile less often, afraid to show your teeth. After getting the perfect smile with your perfectly aligned teeth after your treatment, you will feel more confident and happy!

How Is The Invisalign Treatment Done?

Invisalign treatment involves the use of a series of clear, removable aligners that are custom-made to fit over the teeth and gradually shift them into the desired position.

Straightening

Your orthodontologist (dentist specialized in orthodontology) will take a precise 3D digital scan of your teeth and create a custom treatment plan for your case. Then according to the scan custom aligners for you will be made. After fitting is done, you will wear your aligners until your next visit to the dentist’s office around 2 weeks for changing into new ones. This will continue until your teeth are straightened. According to the treatment plan, the number of invisalign trays in the plan determines how long the treatment will take; meaning the time needed for the results is determined by the level of your malocclusion.

Risks and Complications

If you are considering getting Invisalign Treatment, it's important to be aware of the potential risks and complications. Discomfort and Tenderness : With each tray of Invisalign aligners you may feel some discomfort and tenderness for a few days which is temporary. Dislodged Fillings: Invisalign aligners move your teeth so when biting down on the aligners, there is a chance that your existing fillings may become loose. Damaged Nerves: If you have an extracted tooth, or you previously injured your teeth, Invisaligners may put your nerves at risk of becoming damaged. You may need to have a restorative treatment before your Invisalign treatment.

What To Expect During A Invisalign Treatment Recovery?

During the first week of the Invisalign treatment recovery process, you can expect to experience some discomfort as your mouth adjusts to the presence of the aligners. Your teeth and gums may be sore for the first few days after starting Invisalign treatment. This is normal and should go away on its own within a few days. You may find it difficult to eat at first because of the soreness and the presence of the aligners. Stick to soft foods and cut your food into small pieces to make it easier to chew. Also you may also find it difficult to speak at first because of the aligners. This should improve over time as you get used to the aligners. It's important to maintain good oral hygiene while wearing aligners. Brush your teeth at least twice a day and use floss threaders or a water flosser to clean between your teeth and around the aligners. After the early weeks of the Invisalign treatment recovery process, you can expect the aligners to become more comfortable as your mouth adjusts to them. Improved eating and speaking; as your mouth becomes more accustomed to the aligners, you should find it easier to eat and speak. As the aligners gradually shift your teeth into the desired position, you should start to notice an improvement in the appearance of your teeth. Changing aligners; as your treatment progresses, you will need to switch to a new set of aligners every 1-2 weeks. Your orthodontist or dentist will provide you with instructions on how to do this. It's important to follow the instructions provided by your orthodontist or dentist and to contact them if you have any concerns or questions during the recovery process. After meeting with your dentist at their office during your consultation you express your expectations and the dentist checks the condition of your teeth. They will inform you about their professional opinion while taking your expectations and the condition of your teeth into consideration. Then, photos of your teeth will be taken for a 3D simulation. The size, model and color can be decided by you, and you can even choose the color from the tooth color chart. After deciding, on the first operation day teeth will be scraped and if there is a need for an extraction it will also take place on the first day. Temporary veneers will be put on and your dentist will prescribe you with painkillers and antibiotics. You will stay at the hotel for about 4-5 days. During your stay you will be visited by a wellbeing specialist, and if you’re having any problems your dentist will be contacted. After these 4-5 days, your permanent veneer will be applied and it will be all done.

What To Do Before Invisalign Treatment?

Although there are no specific instructions you need to follow before your first appointment, following are always good to do before your dentist appointment. Visit your dentist or orthodontist for a consultation. They will assess your teeth and determine if Invisalign is the right treatment option for you. Keep your mouth healthy: Good oral hygiene is essential for a successful Invisalign treatment. Brush your teeth at least twice a day and floss daily to help keep your mouth healthy. Brush and floss your teeth thoroughly. This will help ensure that your aligners fit properly and that your teeth are healthy before treatment begins. Consider taking photos of your teeth before treatment starts. This can help you track your progress and see the transformation of your smile over time.

What To Do After Invisalign Treatment?

The invisalign treatment is a process, that is the results are not immediate. Depending on the level of malocclusion your treatment could last anywhere between 6 months to 2 years. During this time, you will have frequent visits to the dentist’s office for getting your new batch of aligners, approximately every 2 weeks although it depends on the process your teeth have. Shortening the treatment duration depends on you wearing them 20 to 22 hours per day. You should only remove them for eating, and brushing & flossing your teeth. You don’t have to take your aligners off to drink water, however, you should remove them while drinking other beverages; and using a straw will help not to stain your teeth and aligners. Keeping a good oral hygiene routine is important for having healthy teeth and gums, so don’t forget to brush twice and floss once daily!
