What are the Expected Outcomes of Liposuction?

The outcomes of Liposuction can be analyzed in three main categories: aesthetical, health-related, and psychological.

Aesthetical Outcomes

You can’t have a meaningful weight loss through liposuction but when done by an experienced and talented plastic surgeon, your body will look leaner and shapelier. You’ll have a fitter and younger appearance. You look better, and you enjoy fitting into your clothes. You’ll wear your bikini, and you won’t be shy at the beach anymore! Besides, liposuction permanently removes fat cells from the body. If you keep your weight stable, the result will be long-lasting.

Psychological Outcomes

The psychological outcomes of the procedure are as important as the physical ones. For most people fatty appearance of some body regions is a serious concern. If you are not happy with your body, you can experience serious psychological distress which can negatively affect your self-confidence. Therefore, after procedure, strong psychological benefits are expected. You will start to love your body more. Your self-confidence will be boosted.

How Is A Liposuction Done?

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure performed to remove excess fat from various body areas. It is customized according to needs and wishes of the patient.

Anesthesia

Like all kinds of surgery, liposuction requires anesthesia. Your surgeon will decide whether general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation is more suitable for your case.

Surgery

The essence of the liposuction procedure is the removal of excess fat pockets from specific regions of the body. During the surgery, your surgeon will form very small incisions. Then a special solution will be given inside the body. After that, using a special tube, the fat tissue will be suctioned.

From which regions the fat will be removed depends the specific case of each patient. The potential regions include abdomen, waist, back, buttocks, calves, ankles, hips, thighs, upper arms, chest, chin, and neck. Surgical procedure involves making small incisions in the area which has fat deposits and inserting a tool called cannula into the fat pocket. This tool is attached to a suction device to suction the fat. The duration of the surgery depends on the extent of fat removal.

Risks and Complications*3

Liposuction has long term benefits and very low complication risk, with an overall complication rate of 2.47%. The risk increases if it is combined with other procedures; while solitary liposuction has a 0.7% complication rate, when combined it is 3.5%. The probable complications are:

    Early complications:

  • Contour deformity

  • Edema
  • Infection
  • Seroma

Problems & Solutions

Liposuction procedure is customized according to each patient’s needs. It is an ideal treatment for many problems but not applicable for others.

It sounds like you are an ideal candidate for liposuction! Unfortunately, some fat deposits are resistant to diet and exercise. You may not successfully get rid of them no matter how much you try. Luckily, liposuction is an amazing treatment for this problem. Abdomen, waist, and thighs are popular regions for resistant fat removal through liposuction. However, there are many other regions available for liposuction including upper arms, hips, and lower legs.
It is not easy to get rid of the excess fat in the face through diet and exercise. However, you can have facial liposuction to solve this problem. Liposuction is quite successful at treating facial fat. Of course, in the case of face, much lower amounts of fat are removed compared to other liposuction areas such as abdomen and waist. Commonly treated areas include the jawline, neckline, cheeks, and chin. It’s also a much less invasive face surgery compared to facelift. Your surgeon can help you to understand which facial surgery approach is the best one for your case.
Love handles are a common problem. Fortunately, liposuction is very successful at reshaping the waist. The waist has a central importance in the female figure because it connects the breast area to butt and thigh area. Liposuction performed on the waist affects the whole body. In order to achieve amazing and more balanced results, liposuction can be performed on multiple regions of the body in a combined manner.
In your case, liposuction may not be the solution. If you have sagging skin and too much residual fat, abdominoplasty may be the ideal treatment. In abdominoplasty, excess fat and skin is removed from the abdomen to achieve a thinner and flatter appearance. You may also have abdominoplasty combined with liposuction performed on other areas of your body to achieve enhancement on your whole body.
In women, this is very common. In the upper arm region of many women, fat is accumulated, and a pendulous appearance arises. Fortunately, liposuction is an affective treatment for this problem. Via liposuction, the fat deposits are reduced. Thanks to the excellent skin retraction in this area, amazing results are achieved. Upper arm region is a prominent indicator of age. So, enhancement of this region will provide a youthful appearance.
Thighs are strategic parts of the feminine figure. They are right next to the butt. So how they look also directly affects how your butt looks. They also directly affect the way your legs look. There are three sections of the thighs that are available for liposuction. The outer thighs (known as “saddlebags”) have central importance on your overall shape. Performing liposuction on outer thighs is an effective way of sculpting your whole figure. The inner thighs determine the relationship between the legs. A “gap” between the legs is achieved through performing liposuction on inner thighs. The posterior thighs determine how your butt looks. A more prominent appearance is achieved through performing liposuction on outer thighs.
Hips have huge effects on your overall appearance. Your surgeon, through liposuction, can carefully sculpt your hips to achieve a well-defined and aesthetically pleasing silhouette. If liposuction is simultaneously performed on other regions of your body, a much more balanced result is guaranteed.
